History
Carbonism is a religion founded by SunnyMoth that was established in Gooberland. At the center of Carbonist belief is the worship of Carbonius, the deified spirit of coal. It is written in sacred scripture that Carbonius bestowed coal upon the world to bring light, warmth, and transformation. The early Carbonists did not reverence coal as a utilitarian commodity alone, but as a sacred gift - "the black jewel of the earth" - that had the power to guide humanity through darkness, both literal and figurative. The foundation of Carbonism was preceded by the construction of the first Church of Coal, a social and religious hub for followers. The religion centers around principles of gratitude, transformation, unity, and protection, which are achieved through prayer, mining rituals, and communal torchlight processions.
EWIIS presence
EWIIS was a server unrelated to TPTMC created by RR2342. SunnyMoth built the first Church of Coal on this server, placing it directly in front of the doorway of another building as a symbolic (and literal) statement of the presence of Carbonius in all worlds. While the action was disruptive to some, some might view it as a metaphor for the light of Carbonius blocking out the mundane and guiding seekers toward spiritual truth.
Religious Texts
The Tome of Light and Dark is divided into two main volumes: Prayers and Wishes and Echoes of the Past. These writings form the foundation of Carbonist theology, myth, and ritual.

The creation of Coal
In the beginning, the world was shrouded in darkness, The gods, seeing the need for light and warmth, reached deep into the earth and forged the first veins of coal. These black gems, embedded within the stone, were a divine gift to the inhabitants of the land. From the depths, they called out, promising light in the darkest of nights and warmth in the coldest of times. Thus, the sacred coal was born, and with it, the cycle of light and dark commenced.
The first miner
Long ago, in the age of the first settlers, there was a miner named Orin. Guided by whispers of the earth, he delved deep into the mountains, where no light had ever reached. His perserverance was rewarded when he struck the first vein of coal. As he held the black gem in his hand, it ignited with an inner fire, illuminating the cavern. Orin understood that he had been chosen to share this divine gift with the world. He became the first High Priest of Coal, teaching others the sacred art of mining and the reverence of the furnace.
The Blessing of the Furnace
And it was written, 'Build ye a furnace of stone and iron, for within it lies the power of transformation. Place upon it the sacred coal, and let the flames consume the darkness. Whisper the prayers of the ancients as the fires burn, for in the heart of the furnace, the raw and unrefined shall be made pure. As the ores melt and the metals flow, so too shall your spirit be cleansed and your mind enlightened.'
The Light in the Darkness
Fear not the shadows, for within them lies the promise of light. Carry with you always a torch, fueled by the sacred coal, and let its light guide your path. For in the darkest caves and the deepest mines, the light of the torch shall reveal the hidden treasures and protect you from the unseen dangers. Trust in the coal, for it is the beacon of hope and the harbinger of safety.
The Hymn of Flames
Oh coal, black gem of the earth, From you we draw our light and mirth, In darkness deep, your glow we see, A guiding star for you and me. Bless the furnace, bless the fire, Ignite in us a true desire, To seek the wisdom in the flame, And honor always your sacred name. Coal of shadows, coal of light, Lead us through the darkest night. We praise your power, your divine role, Forever bound to the Sacred Coal.
The Legacy of the Torchbearers
The Torchbearers are the cosen messengers, spreading the light of coal to every corner of the world. They carry with them the sacred flame, igniting hope and dispelling fear. To be a Torchbearer is to embrace the responsibility of enlightenment. They teach the young, guide the lost, and ensure that the knowledge of the sacred coal is passed down through generations. In their hearts burns an eternal flame, a testament to their devotion and the unending power of coal.
On the Eternal Cycle of Transformation
In the dance of existence, there is no true end, only a continuous cycle of transformation ordained by Carbonius. As the coal, once humble plant matter, undergoes the crucible of time and pressure to emerge as a radiant source of energy, so too do our souls journey through the furnace of life. Death is not an end but a passage, where the ember of our essence returns to the eternal flame of Carbonius. There, amidst the infinite warmth and light, our spirits undergo a wondrous metamorphosis. Just as coal yeilds its energy to sustain life, so do our departed souls nourish the cosmic cycle. Let us embrace this truth with hearts aglow, knowing that each transition is but a step in the eternal dance of Carbonius's design. Through our faith and deeds, we honor the sanctity of this transformation, mindful that every spark, every breath, bears witness to the enduring grace of our divine patron.
